Australia: Sydney-Mike's Big Adventure
Wherever we go, Mike always wants to climb to the top of something to get a bird's eye view of the place. Usually this means a climb to the top of a church spire, or a castle tower, or somesuch. But this time he outdid himself when he climbed 440 feet up to the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, also known as the Coathanger to the locals.
I have to admit that when Mike talked about the possibility of doing the climb to the top of the Harbour Bridge, I never really thought he would do it. It was an extremely hot day, the bridge is enormous, and I know that I would never have had the nerve to attempt something like that. But as soon as he was able to send out my latest Blog entries and get himself organized, he hotfooted it over to the Bridge to join one of the organized and escorted climbs.
Seeing as I was not part of the experience, I can't describe it for you, but I think that if you look at the following photos, you will get a good idea of what was involved, what he saw, and how he felt. My apologies if this takes a while to load, but I think you will agree that in this case, a picture is worth a thousand words.
